During these unprecedented circumstances, our first priority continues to be the health, safety and welfare of all our students, staff and visitors. We are following the latest advice from the UK government, Public Health England and the NHS.

We continue to review our schedule of activity in light of government directives. As the situation evolves and we take decisions around training, courses, auditions and events, we are contacting all affected staff, students, applicants or visitors directly, and we will update our website.

Current students and applicants

Students who are continuing at RADA in autumn 2020, and new students accepting places to start in autumn 2020, should read the following documents regarding arrangements for the upcoming academic year and technical requirements for accessing online training.

RADA has some equipment it can lend to students, and can provide access to hardship funding for those wishing to purchase their own additional equipment.

Students from all courses have been contacted by their course leader and will continue to receive updates about future procedures for training and assessments. Please speak to your course leader or the Student and Academic Services department if you have any concerns.

We are supporting staff with working from home wherever possible. Please check the RADA Sharepoint for helpful information and speak to the IT helpdesk, your line manager or HR if you have any issues or concerns.

We know members of our staff and student community may have concerns about the current situation and about their family and friends. Please do support your colleagues, and contact your course leader, the Student and Academic Services department or the Student Wellbeing Team (for students); or your line manager or HR (for staff) about any concerns.

We ask all students and staff to familiarise themselves with the latest public health guidance and follow the advice around self-isolation if necessary.

    Information for applicants

    Updated: 1 June 2020

We understand applicants are anxious for information, and we thank you for your patience at this time. The email address continues to be monitored but we are a small team and our capacity for response may not be as swift as usual, under the circumstances.

    BA (Hons) in Acting
We are in the process of moving our audition process online. This means we will be asking applicants who expected to come for a face-to-face first and second round audition to submit a self-tape.

All current first and second round applicants have now been contacted with information about what you need to provide and some guidance. We need to open the system to uploads in a phased way to make sure that we safely receive everyone’s submission. If you are concerned that you have not yet received this information from us please email

Where possible for us first round (preliminary) results should be sent out on or before 5 June. Second round (recall) results will be sent out on or before 26 June.

For those of you who are waiting to hear about your third and fourth round workshop audition, we will be in touch as soon as we can. Again, your patience is very much appreciated and do check back on our website if you don’t hear from us, as we will also put information here.

Please note this information does not apply for those who were asked to attend a Foundation Course recall workshop. You will receive further information from us via email in the coming weeks regarding these.

FdA / BA (Hons) in Technical Theatre and Stage Management and PG Dip in Theatre Costume
For our theatre production students (FdA or BA Technical Theatre and Stage Management and PgDip Theatre Costume) we are going ahead with interviews remotely, so you’ll also receive information about how and when your interview will take place.

If you are still waiting for your result we hope to be able to issue these during June. Please keep an eye on your emails.

    MA Theatre Lab
We are not currently able to carry out in-person auditions at RADA owing to the UK government restrictions. Applications for 2020 entry have now closed and we will be in touch with everyone to confirm whether they will be invited to the next stage (an audition) very soon. We apologise that we cannot provide you with a firm date yet for your audition and will let you know as soon as we can.

If the current social distancing policy requires us to make substantial changes to our audition process, we will notify candidates invited to audition as soon as we are able. In the meantime, we thank you for your patience at the moment and for recognising that our small admissions team might not be able to respond to queries immediately.

    Information for short courses participants

Following government guidance, we took the decision to postpone our spring and in-person summer short courses. We have contacted all course bookers and applicants directly.

We are running online versions of some of our courses. Find out more information and sign up to our newsletter here to stay up-to-date with new announcements. Due to government guidelines, we are currently not accepting applications for any in-person courses. We hope to confirm 2021 dates as soon as possible.

    Information for event bookers

Following government advice, we sadly took the decision to cancel all remaining performances of our spring productions, and all summer term performances and planned events.

If you had booked tickets to any of these events, please check your emails for details of refunds. We will be in touch about rescheduled events when we can.
