The Homecoming by Harold Pinter
16 November, 7.15pm, Post Show Q&A
18 November, 7.15pm, Captioned Performance
Teddy, a philosophy professor living in America, returns to his London childhood home with his wife, Ruth, whom his all male family has never met. Initially, Ruth is treated with hostility and psychological and sexual taunts. However, Ruth is more than capable of combatting their misogyny and eventually takes control of the household.
Premiered in 1965 the play reflects the social upheaval happening at the time with themes of toxic competitive masculinity, misogyny and deep-rooted male sexual insecurity.
