Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Costume, 2022

Before I came to RADA I studied Fine Art and then went into film and I realised that that was what I wanted to do. I felt like this course would be the perfect opportunity to get more of the skills needed to fit my aims in the film industry.

The costume course at RADA is the only one in the whole country that I feel is tailored to anyone with any background. It's really exciting. You get to be involved in everything; from supervising to making, you learn everything. You also collaborate with all the other students studying at RADA especially students from the FdA and BA in Technical Theatre and Stage Management. It's really interesting and the students and tutors are all so lovely and you make lots of really good friends. Diane and Helen are amazing tutors, they have so much knowledge about everything - you can ask them anything you want and they will have the perfect answer for it.

My favourite project while I was studying was an Eighteenth Century dress from Spain, which was a bit of a challenge, but it was really fun! I really enjoy picking out fabrics and trims and I love looking in the fabric store, it's got a huge amount piled into it.

I think costume in theatre and film plays such an integral part as it gets everyone immersed in the characters and helps them settle into the world we are all creating. It lets you know where you are, what you are doing and who you're looking at. And the actors love dressing up! My aim is to be a maker. We do supervision here, but making is my favourite thing.

Anyone that likes anything to do with costume should come on this course! RADA is exciting, energetic, and busy.
