New Wave

Join us to see works-in-progress from the next generation of theatre-makers in two showcase events on 24-25 October. An opportunity to see London's brightest talents creating new theatre.
Graduating students from our MA Theatre Lab course share work as part of the 'New Wave' programme. Sharings are inspired by literary characters, public Twitter debates, mail-order brides and miscommunications.
Get tickets here for in-person performances at RADA's Studio Theatre.
Tickets: £5

Bare Theatre presents A Pug's Life
Saturday 24 October

In this kaleidoscopic performance, six young creatives find themselves in moments of miscommunication. Hiding behind their hollow masks, these animals hope to break free from a world where white lies are commonplace, and social media and pop culture have infected our daily interactions. Can we say what we really mean? Where did it all go wrong?
Leopold Benedict, Jonathan Aubrey-Bentley, Bartel Jespers, Imogen MacKenzie, Anita Pomario and Luca Zahn

Dangling Man by Bunkum
Sunday 25 October
1pm
Joseph isn’t up to much. Hanging about, waiting for something to happen. He dangles.
When a small hole appears in his ceiling, he can’t resist climbing through. But who or what lies waiting in the room above his?
Inspired in equal part by these dangling times and the Saul Bellow novel of the same name, this short film by Bunkum explores the loneliness and longing that lie just beyond our bedroom walls.

Seven Hours Ahead presents ctrl + alt + del
Sunday 25 October
3pm
Like if I tweet or hashtag about how you didn’t do something right or used the wrong verb, then I can sit back and feel pretty good about myself, cause, “Man, you see how woke I was, I called you out.” […] ‘That’s not activism. That’s not bringing about change. If all you’re doing is casting stones…’ Obama, B., 30/10/2019
Seng Goh, Bertille Mirallie

Solo Double Bill: UNBROKEN and Ghislaine|Gabler (Working Title)
Sunday 25 October
5pm
Facing North Theatre presents UNBROKEN
Inspired by the figure of Tom in Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie.
What is it to feel restrained? To contain every impulse of pleasure. To tether the burning need for adventure until you feel ready to boil. Which is the underworld? The world we escape to or the world in which we stay?
Lane Paul Stewart
Bound by Theatre presents: Ghislaine|Gabler (Working Title)
Smart. Funny. Beautiful. Kind. Narcissistic. Evil. Charming. Vain. Sexy. Gorgeous. Privileged. Cold. Scornful. Off the scale flirtatious. Rancid. Predator.
A monster in the female form.
Where does one begin and the other end?
Conceived and Performed by Kristin Winters

Unforgettable Girl
Sunday 25 October
7pm
“She looked like a girl, but she was actually a door. And when they opened her up, they found a dark hallway instead and stairs stairs stairs all the way down.”
Money can’t buy love, but with GBP 19.99/month, you can have Vaccine—the “fair”-est mail order bride in all of Thailand. This is the journey of one lost child, how a lonely little urchin on the streets of Bangkok ventured to become an unforgettable girl. Unforgettable Girl questions what lies beneath what you see, and examines how the world turns some women into "homo sacer” - “accursed” humans who are irredeemable by justice, freedom and love.
Presented by Elisabeth Gunawan and createdamonster theatre
