Jessie Buckley wins Best Actress at Golden Globes
Congratulations to BA (Hons) Acting Graduate Jessie Buckley, who won a Golden Globe on 11 January 2026 in Los Angeles.
Jessie won the award for Best Female Actor in a Film – Drama for her performance as Agnes in in Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet. She also won the Critic’s Choice Best Actress award for her performance as the wife of William Shakespeare, described as “nothing short of a wonder” by the Guardian. Hamnet also won Best Film – Drama at last night's ceremony.
Jessie Buckley graduated from RADA in 2013. She was nominated as a BAFTA Rising Star in 2019 and is known for her critically acclaimed performances in Wild Rose, Women Talking, Wicked Little Letters. She was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Lost Daughter. Jessie won the Olivier for Best Actress in a Musical in 2022 for her performance as Sally Bowles in Cabaret.
A number of RADA graduates received Golden Globe nominations this year.
RADA Vice-President Cynthia Erivo was nominated for Best Female Actor in a Film – Musical or Comedy for her return to the role of Elphaba in Wicked: For Good.
Aimee Lou Wood was nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor on Television for The White Lotus.
Matthew Rhys was nominated for Best Male Actor in Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Film for The Beast in Me.
Short Courses alumna Tessa Thompson was also nominated Best Female Actor in a Film – Drama for her performance as the titular character in Hedda.
