FdA in Technical Theatre & Stage Management, 2019

Being from a working class background, the idea of being a student at one of the most renowned, prestigious drama schools seemed an unrealistic and unreachable goal. This could not be further from the truth.

RADA is a community that undoubtedly encourages its students, from all walks of life, to believe that they can be whatever they want to be. Whether it be an actor, stage manager, designer or director, the sky is our limit and we are shown that anything is possible if we put our minds to it. The welfare and wellbeing of every student is unquestionably an integral part of RADA’s training too. As an aspiring stage manager, the Technical Theatre and Stage Management course at RADA has provided me with a realistic indication of what to expect when we transition into the industry.

As the course is dissected into various disciplines, you really begin to appreciate the work of every single department. The course was an amazing opportunity to work alongside like-minded people who are committed to producing some of the most inspiring and innovative work I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

My ambition (with a lot of hard work and commitment) is to become a Company Stage Manager. RADA also provided me with the opportunity to become a Warner Bros Creative Talent scholar, and I would eventually love to transition from theatre into film to become an assistant director.
