Michael Sheen joins Mike Leigh and Lindy Hemming as RADA Honorary Fellow
RADA is delighted to welcome Michael Sheen, Mike Leigh and Lindy Hemming as new Honorary Fellows, recognising their extraordinary contributions to theatre, film and the creative industries.
Sheen accepted his Fellowship during RADA’s student induction on 12 September, where President David Harewood OBE presented him with the award. Reflecting on his own training, Sheen spoke of how profoundly RADA shaped his life and career, encouraging new students to embrace risk, vulnerability and the joy of creative exploration, and reminding them that the friendships and lessons forged here will last a lifetime.
Leigh and Hemming received their awards at RADA’s Graduation ceremony in July.
Since the revival of the tradition in 2018, RADA has appointed Honorary Fellows including Sir Anthony Hopkins, Glenda Jackson, Mona Hammond and Stephen Sondheim.
Marcus Ryder MBE, Chair of RADA Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael Sheen, Lindy Hemming and Mike Leigh as Honorary Fellows of RADA. Each has made an extraordinary contribution to the arts, inspiring audiences worldwide while remaining deeply connected to their craft. It is a privilege to celebrate their achievements and enduring influence on future generations of theatre and film makers.”
