Congratulations to BA (Hons) Acting Graduate Marisa Abela, who won a BAFTA TV award on 11 May at Royal Festival Hall.

Marisa won the award for Best Leading Actress for her performance as junior banker Yasmin in the hit BBC drama Industry. She was also nominated for the BAFTA EE Rising Star award earlier this year.

Marisa Abela graduated from RADA in 2019. She is known for her critically acclaimed performance in Industry, in which she stars alongside fellow graduate David Jonsson. Marisa received international recognition for her performance as Amy Winehouse in biopic Black to Black.

A number of RADA graduates received nominations for BAFTA TV awards this year. Kate O’Flynn was nominated for Best Female Performance in a Comedy for Channel 4’s Everyone Else Burns, Jonathan Pryce was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Slow Horses on Apple TV+, and Maxine Peake was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Say Nothing on Disney+.
