Jessie Buckley wins Best Actress Oscar for Hamnet
Our heartfelt congratulations go to RADA BA Hons (Acting) Graduate Jessie Buckley for her history-making Oscar win on Sunday 15 March 2026.
Jessie concluded her awards season winning streak with the Best Actress award for her performance as Agnes in in Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s Hamnet. She has won Best Actress at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice, IFTA and Actor awards for her performance as the wife of William Shakespeare, described as “nothing short of a wonder” by the Guardian. Jessie is the first Irish woman to win the Best Actress Oscar.
Wunmi Mosaku received her first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Annie in Ryan Coogler’s record-breaking film Sinners. She won the Best Supporting Actress BAFTA and NAACP Image Award this year for a critically acclaimed performance described as the film’s “emotional centre”. She was also nominated for the Actor Award and Critics’ Choice Award for her performance, and the cast of Sinners won the Critics’ Choice Ensemble Award earlier this year.
Jessie Buckley graduated from RADA in 2013. She was nominated as a BAFTA Rising Star in 2019 and is celebrated for her performances in Wild Rose, Women Talking, and Wicked Little Letters. She has previously been nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Lost Daughter.
Wunmi Mosaku graduated from RADA in 2007. She is known for her performances in Vera, Loki and Lovecraft Country, and won a TV BAFTA for her performance as Gloria Taylor in BBC drama Damilola, Our Loved Boy in 2017.
