Mark Oldfield was born in Sheffield and grew up in Suffolk. He learnt to play several instruments before choosing to study singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Opera School, Royal College of Music.
Since his debut as Onegin with Scottish Opera, Mark's versatile lyric baritone has secured him an international career as a soloist in a broad repertoire. His interest to explore both singing and acting has led him to work in opera, music theatre and devised theatre pieces with an array of companies that include Opera Factory, Zurich; Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; La Monnaie, Brussels; New Israeli Opera, Transparant, Antwerp; and Opera Circus.
Mark now divides his time between performing in concerts and his roles in education and community music collaborations. Besides teaching at RADA, Mark is Head of Voice and a Visiting Lecturer at Middlesex University, Creative Director of workshops for Streetwise Opera and a vocal coach for several choirs.
