John Tucker trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. At RADA, John has worked as a voice tutor on various courses including BA (Hons) in Acting, Acting Shakespeare and other short courses.

His work as a voice coach includes A Midsummer Night's Dream (Headlong Theatre), Aristo (Chichester Festival Theatre), Bloody Poetry (RADA), Mother Courage (English Touring Theatre), Much Ado About Nothing (RADA), Peter Pan (RADA), Stovepipe (National Theatre) and the HighTide Festival Theatre (2007-2012).

From his private studio, John coaches actors who have recently performed in A Raisin in the Sun (Broadway), Electra (Old Vic), Julius Caesar (RSC), Man and Superman (National Theatre), Les Liasons Dangereuses (Donmar Warehouse), Rules for Living (National Theatre), Three Sisters (Young Vic), Titus Andronicus (Globe), and The Crucible (Old Vic & Broadway).

British TV work includes The Durrells and Doctor Thorne (ITV), London Spy (BBC2) and Undercover (BBC1). In May 2016, John directed the first ever Shakespeare Festival in Uzbekistan. In November 2016, John directed Hamlet (The Actors Center) in New York, where he is returning to direct Electra in 2018.
