Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

Tuesday 30 May, 7.15pm Post Show Q&A
Friday 2 June, 7.15pm Captioned Performance
In Irish writer Samuel Beckett’s seminal tragicomedy Waiting for Godot, dishevelled Vladimir (Didi) and Estragon (Gogo) are waiting on a dusty road. The tyrannical Pozzo and his servant Lucky encounter our first duo as they travel to market while Vladimir and Estragon continue to wait at the roadside to be enlightened by Godot.
Beckett’s famous absurd drama presents themes surrounding futility, purposelessness and hope. Many questions arise without answers as we hope to find out more about Vladimir and Estragon’s background and the purpose behind their persistence to see Godot.
Multi-award-winning writer Samuel Beckett wrote Waiting for Godot following World War II. Around this time, themes of despair were pertinent in his work, particularly perseverance in the face of despair.
This amateur production of “Waiting for Godot” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.
