Incarcerated in a young offenders institution, motormouth Cain, ex-gang member Riyad and introvert Jonjo trade sweets and kill time while awaiting fatherhood. Grace’s job is to turn these kids into parents but can they grow up quickly enough to escape the system?
Premiering at Southwark Playhouse in 2019, Shook won the 2019 Papatango New Writing Prize. Playwright Samuel Bailey was also the winner of the Times Breakthrough Award at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards 2021.
Shook contains very strong language and verbal references to gangs, violence, suicide and sexually explicit content.
