Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Into the Woods takes the beloved fairytales of the Brothers Grimm beyond the ‘happily ever after’. An ensemble cast of fairytale characters find their wishes might be granted, but sacrifices must be made in this fantastical dark musical.
Stephen Sondheim is a multi award-winning composer and lyricist with a host of major musical works to his name including A Little Night Music and Assassins, which have both been recently performed at RADA. James Lapine has been his collaborator on a number of musicals including Passion and Sunday in the Park with George.
James Bonas trained as an actor at RADA before developing a career as a director, with interests ranging from theatre and contemporary opera to innovation in the use of video design and animation. Recent credits include work at Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, Opéra National de Lyon, Bergen National Opera, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Scottish Ballet, BBC Proms and the National Theatre.
