Chicken Shop by Anna Jordan
Aftershow Q&A on Tuesday 28 May
Sixteen-year-old Hendrix is fed up – of his mother’s preaching about her virtuous organic lifestyle, of her new, much younger Australian girlfriend, and of the school bullies and their relentless mockery. In a desperate attempt to prove his masculinity, he ventures into a brothel above a local fried chicken shop – and gets more than he bargained for.
Premiering in London in 2014, Anna Jordan’s dark coming-of-age tale charts an unlikely friendship in an exploitative world.
