A DCF Craft Debate
Distinguished stage and screen director Phyllida Lloyd discusses with Piers Haggard the interplay of film and theatre techniques in her work.
Presented by The Directors Charitable Foundation.
In association with Directors UK, Stage Directors UK and RADA
Phyllida Lloyd’s outstanding list of theatre and opera credits range across 30 years, the most recent being her acclaimed all-female Shakespeare Trilogy at the Donmar, which she also filmed. Her 1999 production of Mamma Mia! is still running in the West End, and her 2008 movie is one of the highest grossing British movies of all time. Other films include Gloriana, a radical adaptation of the Benjamin Britten opera, The Iron Lady for which Meryl Streep won an Oscar, and Herself, shot on a low budget in Dublin and currently in post production.
Discussing Phyllida’s work with the help of clips will be Piers Haggard OBE, award winning director of theatre, film and television who directed the TV series Pennies From Heaven.
