Joining the MA Theatre Lab at RADA in 2012 was a choice to find for myself untapped areas of study in theatre and the processes of acting.

Having been taught thoroughly in the practices of Stanislavski in my undergraduate degree, I felt deeply after three years in the industry that I needed to be pushed in a new way - an exciting way. This push came in the form of ensemble-based training that pursues an autonomy in the actor that gives them the tools and craft to shape their own fate and carve their own creative pathways within the industry.

Looking around at other courses for postgraduate training, the MA Theatre Lab struck as one that was unique in its approach, especially in its eastern European roots. During the course I fell in love with the practices of Jerzy Grotowski, and since graduating in 2013 created Animikii Theatre with my fellow graduate, Henry McGrath. Our theatre company celebrates the philosophies of ‘poor theatre’ and theatre laboratory training. We have successfully created and toured Origins and have established the Northern Theatre Laboratory in Manchester as a leading work-centre of research and training in physical theatre and acting practices.
