I am under the age of 18 but would like to leave school to attend a stage school - can you advise me where to apply?
Contact the Conference of Drama Schools for a full list of organisations offering drama training.

I'm still at school but would like to apply to RADA. What qualifications do I need to obtain before I can do this?
No formal qualifications are required but students must be at least 18 when the course starts. There is a four stage audition process which can span several months. Students are advised to submit their applications as early as possible. For full details see our Courses at RADA page.

I am a UK student applying for the BA Acting course, how much will I have to pay for the fee?
You are required to pay the student fee which in the 2012/13 academic year is £9,000. You can either pay this privately or apply for a student loan to cover the fee. Full information on funding can be found on the BA Acting Fees and Funding page.

I am applying from abroad - can you give me advice about seeking funding?
Overseas students should find funding from the country of origin. Proof that you have sufficient funding in place to cover the full cost of the training for the duration of the course is required in order to receive a student visa to study in the UK.

Does RADA offer scholarships and bursaries?
RADA does offer financial support to UK and EU students in genuine financial need. However, these are not offered prior to the start of the training and any student in receipt of funding through the Academy must prove:
a) That they have taken the full amount of student loan available to them
b) That their joint parental income qualifies them for support (through a financial assessment process)
c) That they are actively engaged in a fundraising campaign of their own

I am applying for a postgraduate course – can you give me advice about funding?
There are no student loans other than Career Development Loans available for postgraduate students. Any funding offered through the Academy is subject to the criteria outlined in the question above. Visit the Fees and Funding pages for our MA in Theatre Directing or our MA in Text and Performance.

Could you advise me on audition pieces?
You will need to prepare two contrasting monologues each under three minutes in length (one modern and one Shakespeare/Jacobean) and have an optional Shakespeare/Jacobean piece ready to present if requested by the panel. Full guidance notes regarding choice of audition pieces will be sent to students when their application is acknowledged.

Can anyone apply to do the RADA Summer Courses?
The RADA Summer Courses are open to all applicants over 18 years of age. The Young Actors Summer School is open to students between the ages of 16 and 18 years. N.B. There are no courses at RADA for students under the age of 16 years. More information on all our Short Courses can be found via our courses at RADA page.

How do I get onto the Acting Shakespeare short course?
Applicants for the Acting Shakespeare short course must audition either in person or by submitting a DVD.

Can you give me information about the MA in Text and Performance?
All applicants must apply direct to Birkbeck College. Birkbeck College will then send all the relevant information. Details of the course can also be found on our website here.

Are there any student loans available for the Foundation Course?
No, the Foundation in Acting is an intensive, unaccredited course and students on this course are required to raise the costs privately.

Are there any acting workshops at the weekend?
Yes, there are acting workshops run for young people aged between 16 and 25 years every Saturday during term time. Details of this can be found on our RADA and Young People pages.

Can I visit, have a look around and speak to students and staff about the courses?
Due to the high level of interest in our BA acting training we are unable to offer an open day for this course. However, if your interest lies in technical theatre, or the MA courses we do offer open days in these areas. The open days for the Technical Theatre and Stage Management and postgraduate specialist courses are offered annually starting in December and open evenings for the MA courses run in January. Please see the relevant course pages for more details. The Academy also offers RADA Tours in conjunction with the student production seasons held each term.
