Previous Experience

André started his career in theatre as an Assistant Director at Teatro Oficina while graduating in Journalism at the University of São Paulo. Soon after, he founded, along with director Marcos Sigrist, the film production company Vertigem Filmes. Productions include: the feature motion picture Ainda Somos os Mesmos and the documentary Carandiru Production Design about the making of the award-winning film Carandiru, directed by Hector Babenco. André also worked as freelance image researcher for BBC Bristol and as an acting coach for the feature film Subsolo-Underground (Terranova Filmes).

Before starting at RADA, he had been working as Theatre Director and acting teacher at Ágora Teatro, where he was also member of the direction board. There, he directed and devised two plays based on the works of Brazilian writer Machado de Assis. Still at Ágora Teatro, experience as Assistant Director includes Don Juan (Molière), Uncle Vanya (Chekhov), Before Breakfast (O’Neill), Richard III (Shakespeare) and The Grand Inquisitor (from The Brothers Karamazov by Feodor Dostoevsky).

New writing, film and television, acting techniques, movement practices, dance, martial arts, human anatomy, philosophy, social history, literature.
