RADA in Schools

SCHOOL TOURS PROJECT

The tours provide the opportunity for central London schools to host a free production performed by RADA’s second year acting students, and/or to bring a group of pupils to the Academy to see a production performed in the Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre.

The plays take place towards the end of the summer term. If you are interested in having your school host one of our 2nd Year productions, or would like to bring a group of your pupils in to see one of the plays next year please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. GRADUATES IN SCHOOLS

RADA graduates (either acting or technical) can visit schools in and around London to give talks to pupils about vocational training and career opportunities in the theatre and related industries.

WORKSHOPS IN SCHOOLS

We are able to provide bespoke drama based workshops for your pupils to support the work that you are doing in school. These workshops can either be related to the curriculum, or designed to suit your specific requirements.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS

In spring 2012 RADA is launching a teacher training programme which is an intensive training course aimed specifically at teachers of A Level/BTEC drama, and theatre studies.

The Teachers’ Directing Workout (TDW) is the first workshop to be delivered in the teacher training programme, and will be led by RADA’s BA Acting course leaders, along with other senior RADA Acting Tutors, and Associate Directors.

The aims and objectives of the TDW are to:

  • help you improve your students’ grades
  • enable you to develop your directorial skills
  • show you how to get the most out of a text
  • build your confidence
  • allow you to share time with other practitioners that teach the same subject
  • develop your own support network
  • share best practice

The workshop runs over a day and a half. On the first day you will observe a directing masterclass that focuses on the work of an early 19th century playwright. On the second day you will be involved in a practical workshop where, along with the other teachers in your sub-group, you will work through the principles that were explored during the masterclass.

Sub-groups are kept small (maximum 14) which encourages an intimate atmosphere, and helps to create a more intensive working environment.

The workshops will take place over a day and a half on Friday 25 May from 2pm - 7:30pm and Saturday 26 May from 9am to 6pm. The cost of the workshop is £350.
