COURSE OVERVIEW

Drawing on the Academy’s singing staff, together with associated musical directors and choreographers, the RADA Musical Theatre course has rapidly achieved a distinguished reputation among musical theatre professionals. It offers a rigorous and intensive week of training for the reasonably experienced actor/singer and the professional alike.

The course is aimed at intermediate and advanced level singers/actors who have already received some formal vocal training and who are intending to pursue a career in Musical Theatre.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students below the age of 18 are not normally accepted. There is no upper age limit however older applicants are advised that the course is physically demanding. If for any reason the course director feels that you have not enough experience, you will not be accepted onto the course.

COURSE DETAILS

You will work with a singing tutor, director, choreographer and musical director. You will develop the skills necessary for a successful career as a singer/actor in today’s Musical Theatre world, working on new material given to you during the course. You will work on solo pieces, a duet or trio and an ensemble number.

You will be given guidance on casting and with developing your audition repertoire. At the end of the course students will perform selected pieces at an informal presentation for an invited audience. This will be followed by individual feedback.

A certificate, stating the minimum number of contact hours, is awarded on successful completion of the course.

HOURS OF WORK

Classes generally take place between 10:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. The classes are not optional. You are expected to treat these as professional rehearsal calls. Punctuality is essential; records are kept of class attendance and are taken into account when the RADA certificate is issued at the end of the course.
