LIGHTING DESIGN FOR THE THEATRE

COURSE DETAILS

An intensive and practical week long course in the thought processes and techniques involved in creating lighting for the stage. Ranging from a detailed look at the equipment and its application to the theatre space through to the creation and artistic appreciation of lighting in a dramatic context. Lectures and practical exercises will combine to give the student the opportunity to enrich their skills in this exciting area of technical theatre.

The course is aimed at those who want to consolidate their knowledge in stage lighting with formal (although practically focused) foundation training. Also for budding lighting designers and those who want to add to their stage electrics knowledge.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students below the age of 17 are not normally accepted. Entrance is by written application. There is no upper age limit.

HOURS OF WORK (ALL COURSES)

Classes generally take place between 10:00am and 5:00pm, from Monday to Friday. Seminars/ classes are not optional. Students are expected to behave in a professional manner. Punctuality is essential; records are kept of class attendance and are taken into account when the RADA certificate is issued at the end of the course.

INSURANCE

It is strongly recommended that all students insure themselves to cover the loss of fees in the event of illness, for which the Academy cannot accept any liability.
